Website Designer
Claire Sempf is a website designer at iOnline, responsible for turning copy docs and wireframes into rich, fully featured websites.
Claire entered the marketing industry in 2017 as a freelance website developer. Over the next 2 years , she took dozens of conversion-focused websites from inception to publication. In 2019, she transitioned to her current role at iOnline, which encompasses end-to-end WordPress builds, analytics implementation, and ticket management.
Claire approaches every website build in the same way: from the perspective of the user. Form matters, but it should always be shaped by function – making it easier for users to find the information they need. That practical mindset is the cornerstone of her design philosophy.
Claire spends her time away from the screen crocheting, going to the gym, and exploring the food culture of Airlie Beach. She holds a Diploma of Website Development from Ivy College.
A website is like a puzzle.
Each section, each fragment of information, has a place on the page.
My job is to piece it together in a way that optimises conversions.

Websites are tools, not art projects.
Most users just want to find the information they’re looking for.
Visual design relies on instinct.
All the heuristics in the world can’t replace good aesthetic taste.
Generative AI isn’t a panacea.
It can write code and sketch wireframes, but interface design still needs to be guided by a human.
