How much does social media management cost?

How long is a piece of string? The cost of social media management varies depending on its inclusions. When you’re looking at package prices from different social media marketing agencies, ask:

  • How many platforms does this package include?
  • Does this package include strategy development, or just content delivery and scheduling?
  • Will the content be crafted by professional copywriters and designers? Or will it be outsourced to offshore freelancers?
  • Will the visuals be stock images or imagery of my brand?
  • Is content cross-posted to all platforms, or tailored natively to each platform?
  • Will ephemeral content like Stories be included?
  • Is account setup and/or optimisation included?
  • How much community engagement can I expect per week?
  • Who will reply to comments and messages?
  • Is there a paid social component, and, if so, what does that include?
  • What sort of reporting do I get? Is it basic, ‘followers-and-engagement’ reporting, or does it include off-platform analyses of social media’s impact on things like website conversions and qualified leads?

As a rule of thumb, you shouldn’t expect social media management for less than AU$1,000 per month from an Australian agency (although comprehensive packages will normally cost much more).

We’re a serious brand. Are social media platforms for us?

Yes. Even if your brand sells to C-level B2B buyers, social media can still have a place in your strategy.

But ‘social media’ doesn’t mean you need to create Facebook memes or Reels on the latest Instagram trend. Leveraging social is about connecting with your buyers where they’re already spending time – and that doesn’t mean compromising your brand.

And you can do that by sharing thoughtful, ‘serious’ posts about their problem and your solutions.

Social media marketing can work for any brand whose ideal buyers use social platforms. Whether it’s the best use of your marketing budget is another question – one that we’ll help you answer during your initial consultations with us.

Do I see posts before they go live?

Yes. Social media is a collaborative motion between brand and agency. Once we’ve created each tranche of posts, you’ll be able to view them in our scheduling platform and approve them or request changes before they’re published.

Do you create all visual content yourselves?

No. Ideally, our team will collaborate with you to develop visual content, which can range from product photography to vertical video of your services being delivered.

While we can and do create visual content ourselves, we generally recommend against leaning too heavily on graphics and stock photography. Modern social media is rooted in authenticity. No-one wants to see another templated carousel or faceless photo. They want you – your brand, your story, your people.
